Spring 2025

In the 2000’s, the average class for the Cal Poly Pomona Architecture department was 70-100 students. In 2025, there's 200. With a growing student body and pressure from the state to grow even more, the students were tasked with envisioning a 12-story studio tower, with expanded space for study, collaboration and design. The site was in a unique location, in the heart of Downtown Pomona, 5 miles away from the main campus and surrounded by parking lots and the African American Alliance. With a unique location and program, this project employs unique solutions to fulfil it’s program’s needs. This project also features a multi-layered HSS facade made of a patchwork of steel mesh, corrugated metal and frosted glass, whose composition responds to the various environmental needs of each surface.
